King and Queen of the bridge footing

A great morning with volunteers uncovering a landmark location along the Bolton to Bury Cycle lane: the footings of an old wooden footbridge, over the railway. A big thank you to local resident Norman, for sharing his personal photographs and newspaper cuttings of the footbridge and surrounding farm land.

Another chap who stopped by claimed to own the land we were working on (King) and a lady who stayed for nearly an hour said she was related to royalty (Queen). It is always great to hear people's stories, especially when they relate to the local area and their history with it.

If anyone else has photographs of the bridge in situ, please contact Bolton NEWT.
