Filming, photos and dirty books

Filming

Today the Bolton NEWT group were in Bolton Library shooting a short film for the Bolton Family History Society. The society will be running a monthly help-desk in the library to aid people trying to find out about their own family history. This will take place on the first Saturday of every month. They also have a programme of talks on local history.

Here is the finished film:

Research

One member of NEWT also spent some time researching her own family history and accounts. This led to some very dirty books being perused, gloves were definitely necessary.

All NEWT members also used the time in the library to research local history, particularly pertaining to Darcy Lever and Breightmet but also about the social observation 'Worktown' that took place in the 1930s. It was an absolutely fascinating experience all round.
