This evening Bolton NEWT continued their exploration of Bolton's historical past. We went where many boltonians of the past had explored before: underneath Bolton in the tunnel where the river Croal runs.

I interviewed an elderly neighbour today about her childhood memories and she said that she knew this river as the 'bloody river' as there was a battle in the Civil War next to the river Croal and the bodies of killed soldiers were thrown into the river such that it ran red with blood.

Videos of our trip inside:

We then continued our walk along the river, enjoying views of Bolton from different angles.

We aim to do more explorations like this!
