Bolton NEWT are not only dedicated to implementing new projects but also to completing and maintaining existing ones and so today we were back at 'The Bunk' on Leverhulme Park tidying and completing one of our dead hedges.
With the promise of some pebble art, Sue and her two daughters Sky and Sabrina also joined us and so we trooped off to the river to collect some pebbles. We sprayed the background white ready for later and meanwhile the girls got drawing on wooden decorations, ready to hang around the woodland.
We take pride in our work and the curved dead hedge we have created is now looks great, along with the stumpery, ready for fungi growth in the middle.
It's great to be outdoors, even in the Autumn/Winter and with the addition of a camping stove we were able to enjoy hot potato hash (thanks Natalie!) and tea and coffee - really warming and welcome.
In the afternoon it was time to Deck the Boughs with decorations as well as get cracking on some pebble art. Simon also brought some birdseed to spread around, for winter nourishment.
Do have a look around Leverhulme Park for our creations and let us know if you find any by posting on the Bolton North East Wildlife Trail Facebook page.
Our next event will be on the 17th December, litter picking and clearing fly-tipping around New House Farm playing fields, we'd love to see you there!
