NEWT volunteer George kindly informed us that he had nominated Bolton NEWT at his workplace and that he had a large comedy cheque for us. To NEWT members any donation is a large donation because we make sure every penny has an impact, when George revealed to us it was a £1,000 from Cosatto, that blew us away!
The money will be used to put on extra activities for our upcoming June 'make your own fairy house' event, it will provide us with tools, equipment and new ways to enhance the habitats at Leverhulme Park through our Wednesday and Sunday tasks. We can guarantee the money will be used 100% on the community, rewilding, the environment and most importantly getting children engaged with nature. Today at the hub was also a fantastic day, not just because we had such a generous donation but because we also had a record 16 people attend the Garstang Hub. We had the kids helping us water the site and harvest radishes, which amounted to a whopping 5lbs of radish and it's only May still!
We finished the day by planting the now hardend pumpkins into their new bed, we now just need to wait till October for the harvest so we can carve the pumpkins and make pumpkin soup!
