On the 21st December Bolton NEWT held it's second Christmas Event, which is now becoming an annual tradition. The first year we hosted the event, committee members covered the costs with Councillor Warren even contributing home made fudge, although we didn't have much advertisement, at least 60 people attended in 2018. This year we aquired funding and over 180 children with well over 300 people attended our Magical Winter Forest event. Not only did we have a great attendance, local ward Councillors working with Bolton At Home used the opportunity of the event to spread some festive joy by handing out over 180 selection boxes.
We had biscuit decorating with hot chocolate and mince pies with volunteers Leanne, Sue and Debbie helping to manage the crowds. On the arts and crafts Jasmine managed two activities, the make your own Christmas decoration and make your own Christmas Candle. Over on the fire for roasting marshmallows and heating up mulled wine was Simon, with Adele finally on the raffle table selling tickets to raise funding to help NEWT continue. At the end of the night as the sun set the LED lights we had secretly strung up in the forest began to come alive, the LED lights will be staying up over the Winter period. A big thank you to all the volunteers and everyone who came to enjoy our Magical Winter Forest, we hope by Winter 2020 we can secure funding again and make this an annual tradition.
