On Sunday (01/08/2021) four of the NEWT volunteers took back the willow at Blenheim Lodge, Leverhulme Park and removed the dense grass from the pond. The Yellow Iris was also cut back somewhat to allow for more light and more space in the water for aquatic species. The four of us managed to do two days worth of work in a single session!
It was also lovely to be joined by Louise from Bolton's History (Facebook page) and we chatted about future projects and local history. Louise brought along with her some old maps of the local area and it was interesting to hear what she had in mind for working with the local communities in Bolton to explore the town's colourful past.
